About
jaqs gallos aquines is a community organizer dedicated to anti-racism, social justice, cultural identity, abilities and representation. Much of their work has been informed through their being a member of the Advisory Group of the Anti-Racist Organizational Change (AROC) project through CommunityWise Resource Centre since 2016.
Their work has also been influenced as a board member of Voices, Calgary’s Coalition of Two-Spirit, Trans, Queer + Straight People of Colour. They produce and co-host The Unlearning Channel podcast with MelVee X. Jaqs also co-founded Bahaghari, a grassroots community of FilipinX 2SLGBTQIA+ and Chosen Allies out of Mohkinstsis. jaqs’ first anthology as an editor, Home is in the Body: 2SLGBTQIA+ FilipinX Femme, North of the 49th Parallel came out in December 2020.
